Many of the objects they represent are clearly recognizable. The script was apparently an independent Hittite invention; while the language is close to that of Hittite cuneiform it is actually a dialect of Luwian, one of the languages spoken by the multi-lingual Hittite society. These included Luwian, Palaic and Hittite, which are all Indo-European languages, and Hurrian, a non-Indo-European language.
